Data for this shapefile was sourced from stratigraphic well logs for public wells that have been created by geologists, and from drilling logs from domestic water well construction records. Depth to the top and the bottom of the Ozark Aquifer Confining Unit was subtracted from the surface elevation to calculate the confining unit top and bottom elevations for each location. The confining unit top and bottom surface elevations were interpolated using the natural neighbor algorithm with an output cell size of 332.451730131414 meters. Interpolation values were subtracted from NED 10m surface elevation to create two raster surfaces representing the top of the confining unit and the bottom of the confining unit in 332.451730131414 meter resolution. Using the smallest and greatest values within each ¼-section to account for changes in elevation, raster values were manually evaluated to determine the depth to the top of the confining unit and the depth to the bottom of the confining unit. Maximum total depth for wells that terminate within the upper aquifer were determined by subtracting ten feet from the smallest value shown for depth of the confining unit top. Minimum casing depths for wells that penetrate the lower aquifer were determined by adding ten feet to the depth of the confining unit base. An additional twenty feet was added to lower aquifer casing depth values to include the upper twenty feet of the Cotter Dolomite (due to the low hydraulic conductivity value for the upper Cotter Formation). All calculated values were rounded to the nearest ten feet to obtain the final numbers. Designated TCE/Lead/Cadmium impact areas were included in this data set to indicate ¼-sections with a prohibition of upper aquifer wells.
